30 PM (with minimal OT & weekends when necessary) POSITION SUMMARY Composite Technicians will be producing parts and assemblies for the aerospace, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and other product line industries that are developed at our facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Apply advanced technical skills and knowledge to fabricate composite parts using prepreg epoxy resins with carbon, fiberglass, Kevlar, and quartz fibers.
It is preferred that the candidate have experience in reading and interpreting work instructions, specifications sketches, job travelers, planning documents and engineering drawings.
Work under standard supervision applying trained procedures and collaborative solutions to meet work requirements.
Priorities are determined by management.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
The employee is often required to sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Equipment Operated:
Vacuum pumps, heat ovens, platen presses, hydraulic presses, special hand tools, ladders and mechanical stands.
Work Location:
Open shop environment, and clean room.
Protective Equipment Required:
Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses and respirators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have experience working with laminating advance composite materials.
Knowledge of releases, prepreg, resins, composite bagging, adhesives, and curing presses.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-management, and vendors.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ERP/accounting software experience preferred.
Fabricate composite molds and parts to meet customer specifications.
Take personal responsibility for workmanship and productivity.
Ability to follow instructions and take direction.
Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.
