Controller oversees a staff of 5 full and part time employees, who together carry out the necessary functions for the 5 companies of the entities.
Controller reports to the company President, Chair of the DMSR Board and the Hood River Inn General Manager, and is directed to control and coordinate accounting, auditing, budgets, taxes, and related activities and records.
The Controller develops and administers procedures and systems pertaining to financial matters, prepares financial statements, forecasts and analyzes cash flow for administrative and managerial functions.
During the month of January, the Controller summarizes the past year's activities through regular financial reporting and submits reports along with additional source documents to the tax accountant so that they can prepare the income tax returns.
The position oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounting, Payroll and HR employees in the Accounting Department, which includes the hotel's night auditors.
Essential Duties:
Reporting duties include; monthly Financial Reporting, budget forecasting with staff input annually, agency reports for licensing, room tax for local and state agencies, CAT tax annually, liquor licensing, and other regulatory reports as they come due.
Accounting duties include bank reconcilements, journal entries from source documents, balancing the general ledgers, verifying change bank totals, formatting and/or changing format of balancing Excel reports as needed, forecasting cash flow reports for quarterly owner meetings, initiating bank transfers as needed for payroll, payables, and other disbursements, and other accounting duties.
The controller oversees and directs the AP, AR, HR/Payroll, and Accounting personnel and conducts their hires, reviews, and directs them as needed.
The Controller's office, is the main contact for the outside IT company, and works with them to approve equipment proposals, and notifies them of any needed upgrades to existing company or accounting software.
Project management for necessary software upgrades for either POS, or PMS systems, is a function of the Accounting office.
Candidate Requirements:
Able to work year round at the Hood River, OR office.
Knowledge and aptitude with Microsoft products (Excel, Word) is mandatory.
Possess strong knowledge and experience in using and applying standard Accounting principles.
The candidate must be loyal, trustworthy, diligent, and organized.
