Lab Technician and Production Cellar Operator split 50/50 in a 4/10hr shift Lab Technician Description:
The Production Lab Tech works as a member of a team who is responsible for effectively performing duties which include:
production culture propagation, product QC and Process QA.
In addition to preforming standard laboratory duties, daily and weekly functions include working in a clean room environment, media preparation, microbial plating, Nexcelom cell counting, use of pH meter, density meter, microscope, GeneDisc PCR and other bench top equipment.
And of course, cleaning and washing lab ware and maintaining work areas.
This team member will effectively perform laboratory and production duties in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner and follow all company policies as well as Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure quality and integrity of the final product.
Job Duties:
Strictly adhere to all company SOPs Follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines Adhere to all chemical safety practices outlined for the laboratory Maintain clean and organized work environment Perform all preliminary and intermediate stages of yeast propagations Perform FV checks Clean and calibrate basic lab equipment QC plating of yeast Media and water filtration QA Enter and track all data collection and tasks performed daily Properly operate autoclave Properly clean all lab ware Maintain efficient and effective communication with coworkers, supervisors/leads, and managers Clean all workstations before and after use, throughout the day, and at the end of the day Perform nightly shutdown checklist and clean the room you were working in Perform weekly lab maintenance duties as needed/asked Perform all stages of Brett and Bacteria propagations QC plating of Brett and Bacteria Stock media preparation (listed out in media preparation) Nexcelom cell counts on homogenized product GeneDisc PCR for QC and QA Re-plating for final QC Air-line maintenance Lab equipment maintenance Additional Job Responsibilities and Projects:
Culture specific media preparation Assist with training new employees Drive daily workflow Be knowledgeable and able to perform power outage protocols Production Cellar Operator Description:
This position is responsible for effectively preforming production duties which includes raw material handling, operating a forklift, record keeping, tank sampling, wort processing, cleaning and sanitation of tanks and equipment, and cellaring operations; all of which require extensive physical work in a clean, hot/cold, and wet production environment.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Follow established formulas to weigh and measure raw materials for scheduled production batches according to company procedures Maintain raw material and production records with detail and accuracy Start up, monitor, and operate processing equipment safely and efficiently Adhere to current Personal Protective Equipment requirements and adopt new PPE requirements as chemicals, chemical use, or procedures change Safely and accurately handle, mix, and test concentration (titration & ppm) of all cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Perform cleaning and sanitation of equipment, both CIP and manual, cleaning process area and other assigned areas according to company protocols Collect samples for QC/QA during the production process Read, understand, and maintain a variety of scientific instruments and calculations Set up and complete cellaring operations according to company procedures Acknowledge and report necessary repairs of equipment to supervisor and assist when needed Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training.
Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment and tools.
Support and comply with all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Must meet set expectations and daily goals given by the supervisor based on production needs.

Position Requirements:
Minimum 2 year Associates Degree in Food Science, Brewing Science, Food Microbiology or related studies, 4 year Bachelor's Degree preferred Minimum 2 year experience in Food Microbiology, commercial brewing, cellar operations or related field preferred Knowledge of food grade chemicals, sanitizers, and safe handling practices Ability to understand and comprehend production and processing language Job Type:
